This is in response to the article, “State: growth plan must wait,” about the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School in Hadley.
I was interested to see the messages being used by the charter school are pretty much the same as used by public schools when they’re arguing for their budgets at Town Meetings.
Both talk about the importance of education and bring children to demonstrate how well their school does. The difference lies below the message: charter school money comes at the expense of public school budgets.
Until the financial bases of charter schools and public schools are disentangled, we can expect more rancor and disappointment.
