NORTHAMPTON – Crews are still determining the cause of an early morning fire that caused around $25,000 in damage.
The Northampton Fire Department was called to a home on Oak Street in Florence just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.
No one was injured.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a fire in the home’s basement, according to Chris Norris, deputy fire chief.
The homeowner’s called firefighters after they were alerted by smoke detectors, Norris said.
The fire, as well as the ensuing damage, was contained to the basement. It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the fire, Norris said.
Mutual aid was provided by the Easthampton and Southampton fire departments as well as Pioneer Valley Ambulance.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
