The results from the second PVIAC alpine ski race of the season were incorrect due to scoring errors.
The race was held Thursday at Berkshire East in Charlemont.
Grace O’Connor, of Westfield, won the giant slalom in 25.17 seconds. Rachel Oram-Brown, of Amherst, who was originally credited with finishing first, did not race. An incorrect racing number was the cause of the mix-up.
Technical difficulties delayed the girls giant slalom race and made scoring a challenge, according to stat keeper Brigid O’Riordan.
With the change, Amherst finished second in the South Division with 118.34 points, behind Mohawk (113.26).
In the boys slalom race, Northampton’s Jack Denhart missed the next to last gate and was disqualified on the official results.
But, Denhart wasn’t listed on the gate card as disqualified so as the results were gathered his finish at first counted.
When the results were made official, Denhart was disqualified. However, neither Denhart nor Northampton coach Trixie Wessel had a chance to protest. Due to this oversight, his finish will count.
Denhart finished seventh in 33.75 seconds.
The Blue Devils slide up from third place in the North Division to second with 146.78 points.
