WILLIAMSBURG – At Monday’s annual Town Meeting, voters will get to decide on issues ranging from the fiscal year 2022 budget to a zoning bylaw amendment that would allow for accessory apartments in detached structures.

The meeting will start 5 p.m. at the Anne T. Dunphy School playground. Attendees are asked to wear masks and to arrive early so the meeting can start promptly. Voters will start being checked in at 4:30 p.m.

The total proposed gross budget for fiscal year 2022 is $9,597,077, up from $9,314,423 in fiscal year 2021.

The total operating budget, meanwhile, which includes school assessments, is $8,364,548, which is a 0.9% increase from the fiscal year 2021 operating budget of $8,290,047.

One of the articles voters will take up would, if approved, amend the town’s zoning bylaws to allow for accessory apartments in detached structures.

As part of the proposed change, the total floor space of the detached accessory apartment would be no more than 900 square feet, and the apartment may not be located with 40 feet of a dwelling on an abutting lot.

Article 21, meanwhile, proposes amendments to numerous provisions of the town’s zoning bylaws relating to ground-mounted solar photovoltaic installations, including having a stormwater management plan and limiting the clearing of natural vegetation to “what is necessary for the construction.”
