Bella Earle contributed a team-high 19 points, and the South Hadley girls basketball team moved within a win of qualifying for the postseason with a 58-48 victory over Hampshire Regional at home Tuesday.

Mia Kelly added 16 points and hit three 3-pointers, while Paige Marjanski scored nine. The Tigers (9-4) pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Hampshire (7-5) by seven.

Lila Labrie canned four 3s and scored a career-high 23 points. Maddie Pond added 10 for Hampshire.

South Hadley next plays at Agawam on Thursday.

Central 51, Northampton 40 โ€” The Blue Devils and Golden Eagles were tied at 26 in the third quarter, but the defending Division 1 sectional champions pulled away.

Amanda Mieczkowski led the Blue Devils (9-2, 1-1 Valley) with 10 points, while Kolbie Jones had nine. Lulu Kesin added seven points.

Pope Francis 54, Hopkins Academy 51 โ€” The Golden Hawks (8-5) held a 51-49 lead when Julie Garvey (25 points) hit the last of her six 3-pointers for the Cardinals (7-7).

Pope Francis got a stop and added two free throws for the win at home.

Hopkins had just under three seconds left following the free throws but could not get a shot off to tie the game.

Samantha Jenks had 20 points, while A.J. Mitchell added 10 for Hopkins. Allison Kowal-Safron chipped in with nine.

Mahar 59 Smith Academy 24 โ€” Victoria Smiarowski had 10 points and 11 rebounds in a home loss.

Emma Kelly added nine points and nine rebounds for the Falcons (6-6).

Gateway Regional 34, Westfield Tech 10 โ€” Becca Herman scored 11 points, including nine from the free-throw line as the Gators (9-3, 7-0 Tri-County South) won in Huntington.

Grace Van Buren added seven points in the win.

Agawam 46, Belchertown 30 โ€” Jenna Birks scored seven points, while Jocelyn Leja and Maddy Duffy made two 3s for six points each for the Orioles (4-8, 0-2 Suburban).

Athol 42, Easthampton 36 โ€” Val Murphy totaled 25 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in a home loss for the Eagles (2-9). Abbey Coleman added eight rebounds.

Smith Vocational 47, Commerce 42 โ€” Sydney Cyr dropped a career-high 33 points in a road win. She made 10 free throws and hit three 3s. Itโ€™s her second 30-point game of the season.

Ella Sherman added eight points for the Vikings (5-7, 2-3 Tri-County South).

Southwick 45, Frontier Regional 44 โ€” The Red Hawks built an eight-point halftime lead, but the Rams charged back to snag a victory.

Amelia Sobieskiโ€™s 12 points led Frontier Regional (5-6), as she continued her string of double-digit scoring games (eight in a row). Olivia Deane and Charlotte Doulette each scored 10, and Marie Diemand added seven points for the Red Hawks.

Southwick 53, Hampshire Regional 46 โ€” Mike Dunlap hit three 3s and scored a career-high 16 points in a home loss. Nick Pellegrini made all three of his 3s in the second quarter and finished with 12 points for the Raiders (2-10).

Amherst Regional 51, Pope Francis 48 โ€” Akeme Hilson-Mallory had 15 points and Evan Perry added 14 as the Hurricanes (3-8, 1-1 Valley League) won at home.

Amherst trailed 27-21 at halftime.
