As a member of the South Hadley Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition, I am submitting this letter about an upcoming event that is very important to all residents in this area.
On March 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Holyoke College Hooker Auditorium, Dr. Jodi Gilman, who is a neuroscientist and associate professor at Harvard Medical School, will speak on the topic entitled โMarijuana, What We Know and What We Donโt Know.โ
Gilman has experience conducting research ย on the effects of marijuana, especially looking at the substance use among adolescents. Her speech will be followed by a question-and-answer session. This program is co-sponsored by MHC and the South Hadley Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition.
Gilman will dispel myths surrounding marijuana use, such as, that it is not addictive, that it has no long term effects, and that it does not increase risk of developing mental disorders.
With the likelihood of the recreational use of marijuana to be on the ballot in November, we strongly urge voters to be informed when they go to the polls. Save this date and donโt miss this important informational session. It is free, and open to the public.
