I see a common theme running through all the election issues these days and that is big money. Without regulating big money the accumulated capital allows the super rich to buy power and the whole country, even the whole world, veers to the right. Isn’t this what happened in the 1920s and 30s? And you know what the result of that was. Today it isn’t so much the danger of fascism, although that’s bad enough. The real danger in today’s modern world is climate change. It’s a result of unregulated big money spending. If the Republicans take Congress next Tuesday, you know they will perpetuate the power of big money and our world climate will be destroyed.
Let’s take a look at the ballot questions. Number one is a no-brainer. Millionaires (i.e. big money) should pay their fair share. Number two: big insurance versus common people with dental problems; another no-brainer. Number three: expanded availability of liquor licenses: another no-brainer; the big stores versus the little ones. Number four: driving licenses for immigrants. Most of these immigrants are essentially refugees from the effects of our big business global policies. For safety’s sake, at least give them licenses. Number five: A carbon tax: at last we get to the real point. Make big money pay for its excessive carbon use. Please, next Tuesday, vote against big money.
