HOLYOKE — A 30-year-old Holyoke man has died following an apartment fire on Saturday morning.
According to Capt. Kevin Cavagnac of the Holyoke Fire Department, the fire department and police have been unable to determine the cause of the fire due to the extent of the damage inside the burnt apartment.
Cavagnac said that, at this time, the fire department believes the deceased man was a resident of the apartment on Newton Street, which burned along with two other apartments around 5 a.m.
At least 14 people were caught in the cold without shelter because of the fire, and the Red Cross is helping to find them a place to stay.
