ON THE ROAD TO ART

Summer’s a good time to hit the road and see some art beyond the Valley. In Williamstown, the Clark Art Institute, aside from its own impressive holdings, has a new exhibit from Madrid’s famous Prado Museum, “Splendor, Myth and Vision,” of oil paintings collected by the Spanish kings in the 16th and 17th centuries. Closer to home, the Springfield Museums host “Photo-Secession,” an exhibition of artful photographs from the early 20th century. The Clark is open July 4, the Springfield Museums are not. clarkart.edu, springfieldmuseums.org

ANOTHER GOOD BET

The Chester Theatre has just opened “My Jane,” a modern take on how Charlotte Brontë’s “Jane Eyre”  works its magic on people today. Performances are July 1-10; Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 2 p.m. chestertheatre.org
