AMHERST — Meghan Riccardi scored from 15 yards out with 14 seconds left to help Siena shock UMass, 2-1, in a nonconference women’s soccer game at Rudd Field, Friday.

Kelly Marra opened the scoring in the 22nd minute for UMass (1-2-0) after taking a feed from Erin Doster and breaking through two defenders onto goal. The lead stood for 51 minutes before Jayanna Monds chipped over Peyton Ryan to tie the game for Siena (2-1-0).

The Minutewomen fell despite dominating for most of the second half. UMass outshot Siena 10-3 in the final 45 minutes, but the Saints scored on both their shots on target and the Minutewomen had all four of their attempts on goal parried.

RIVERHAWKS SLIP PAST MINUTEMEN: Jakov Basic converted a free kick in the 37th minute to lift UMass-Lowell to a 1-0 win over UMass in a nonconference men’s soccer match in Lowell.

The Minutemen (0-1-0) put only three of their 11 shots on target, including just one of eight in the second half. Riverhawks (1-0-0) keeper Zach Rowell made all three saves to pitch the shutout.

Amherst native Davis Smith did not register a shot in 90 minutes for UMass.

UNH CLIPS UMASS: New Hampshire scored twice in a five-minute span to rally for a 3-2 home win over UMass in a nonconference field hockey game.

After the Wildcats (1-0) scored just before halftime, the Minutewomen (0-1) responded with a pair of goals from junior Antonet Louw 70 seconds apart. Lucy Cooper fed Louw for the first goal with 21:53 to go and Sophie Johnson picked up the assist on the second Louw tally. However, the lead disappeared eight minutes later before Finn Caron scored the winner for New Hampshire with 7:27 left.

UMass held a slight 11-10 advantage in shots, but both teams sent seven attempts on the cage.

O’LEARY EXTENDED: UMass announced it extended men’s soccer coach Fran O’Leary’s contract for three seasons through 2022 on Friday, hours before the Minutemen opened their 2018 campaign.

O’Leary, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, led UMass to the conference title and the NCAA Tournament last season. In his three years in charge of the Minutemen, the team has improved its win total each season, including 15 wins last year, the second most in program history.

MINUTEWOMEN ADD EIGHT: UMass women’s swimming and diving announced eight additions for the upcoming season on Wednesday. Coach Bob Newcombe welcomed five swimmers and three divers to the program, which included six athletes from Massachusetts.

The Minutewomen’s season begins Oct. 5 at the Colgate Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y.

UMASS EXTENDS RADIO DEAL: UMass has extended its exclusive five-year partnership with WEEI 105.5 FM for another five years, the school announced Thursday.

The contract for WEEI to broadcast all UMass football and men’s basketball now runs through the 2022-23 school year. The school originally partnered with the radio station in 2012 for the Minutemen’s inaugural FBS season.
