NORTHAMPTON — Police arrested three drivers in the city for operating under the influence over the weekend.
That’s according to Chief of Police Jody Kasper, who issued a statement about the arrests on the department’s Facebook page.
“We’re glad none of these drivers were seriously injured and that they didn’t seriously injure anyone else,” Kasper wrote. “As the holidays approach, we know people will be out celebrating with families and friends. Do not drink and drive. We want everyone to arrive home safely.”
The first of the weekend’s arrests took place at around 10:35 p.m. Saturday on Mount Tom Road. A 42-year-old man from Northampton was arrested and charged with drunken driving, fourth offense, as well as several other traffic violations, including negligent operation and driving with license revoked as a habitual traffic offender.
Several hours later, at 12:46 a.m., police stopped a vehicle that didn’t have its headlights on. The driver, a 40-year-old male from Easthampton, was arrested and charged with OUI.
At 12:51 a.m., police made another OUI arrest after a motor vehicle collision on Florence Road near Ravenwold Farm. A 32-year-old woman from Easthampton was arrested after police arrived on scene to find her vehicle under a broken utility pole.
