Buddy Carr scored three goals, including the game-winner, in the UMass men’s lacrosse team’s 11-9 win over No. 20 Penn State on Saturday.

It was the third win over a top-25 team the Minutemen (4-4) have posted this season.

Dan Mullen and Ben Spencer each scored twice for UMass, and Shane Rinkus picked up five ground balls.

Baseball

Amherst 17, Edgewood 5— Dave Cunningham hit a home run for the Purple & White in a win Saturday in Fort Myers, Fla.

Amherst (8-1) received three hits from five players and 21 total hits.

UMass 10, Maine 1—Dylan Morris went 4-5 with 3 runs batted in during the Minutemen’s rout of Maine on Sunday. Hunter Carey delivered three hits for UMass (3-7).

Amherst 4, Augustana 0—Harry Roberson had a two-RBI triple and Anthony Spina hit a home run to push the Purple & White (8-1) past Augstana on Sunday.

Softball

Binghamton 4, UMass 2—Freshman Erin Stacevicz notched three hits for the Minutewomen (6-15) in the loss on Saturday. The Bearcats scored two runs in the sixth to secure the win.

Amherst 4, St. Scholastica 1—Amherst out-hit St. Scholastica 8-4 in the win in Clermont, Fla. on Saturday. The Purple & White (8-3) scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

North Dakota State 4, UMass 2—Despite a season-high seven strikeouts from Meg Colleran, the Minutewomen (6-15) dropped a game of the Maryland Invitational on Sunday. UMass led through three innings before the Bison picked up three runs.

Women’s Tennis

Amherst 6, Redlands 3—Coach Jackie Bagwell bagged her 400th career win on Saturday over Redlands. Amherst’s Kelsey Chen won her singles match 6-2, 6-3.

Regis 6, Smith 3—Despite singles victories from Noa Dubin and Samantha Peikes, Smith (4-7) fell to Regis on Sunday. Dubin and Peikes also won their doubles match in the team’s loss. 

Men’s Tennis

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 5, Amherst 4—Despite winning three singles matches, Amherst was edged by CMS in Claremont, Calif. on Saturday. The loss concluded Amherst’s spring break trip, and it moved to 8-2 on the season.
