Raul Castro and Barack Obama – edging into a new era if the fool gringos don’t try to revert Cuba to its 1950s status as a virtual U.S. dependency and playground.
Raul has a tightrope to walk (or a tough row to hoe) in re-establishing comity with the United States of America, especially if Barack keeps hectoring him on human rights. Perhaps the gringos might listen and learn a thing or two from Cuba’s and Castro’s La Revolucion.
As the black soul struggle progressed in the 1960s, some African-Americans went to Cuba, a supposed land of racial equality and harmony.
Smith College Professor Ramon E. Ruiz began to wonder about Cuba’s racial paradise. So around 1970, he went to the Cuban mission in New York City to seek permission to enter Cuba to study race relations.
Permission was denied. Not long after we can see why because the Americans became disenchented and left Cuba.
GTMO (there’s no “i” in GTMO) might become a tourist attraction — there are good runways on each side of the Pearl River at the naval air stations, obvious good anchorage and maybe even a nice beach. (After Trump loses, he can develop it.)
