SOUTH HADLEY — Candidates for Hampshire County sheriff and the Governor’s Council will share their views in a public forum Thursday night at South Hadley High School.
Sponsored by Know Your Town, a non-partisan, citizens group in South Hadley, the event begins at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The primary election is Sept. 8.
“We’d like to get as many people from Hampshire County to come and hear their candidates speak,” said Martha Terry, a member of Know Your Town. “This is just another opportunity.”
The candidates for sheriff are Democrats Patrick Cahillane, Melissa Perry and Kavern Lewis, and Republican David F. Isakson. Candidates for the 8th District Governor’s Council are Democrats Mary Hurley and Jeffrey Morneau.
The evening will begin with opening statements from the candidates followed by questions from the audience, either at a microphone or in writing through moderator Eric Goldscheider, a freelance writer.
The program is free and open to the public and will conclude with refreshments and an opportunity to meet and talk with the candidates in person.
