This Sept. 6, I hope you will all join me in reelecting Sheriff Patrick Cahillane. He has proven his integrity and work ethic in countless ways during his tenure as sheriff at Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction.
Sheriff Cahillane continuously submits requests for grants for many types of programs available to reduce recidivism and improve treatment for the men that are incarcerated at the jail. Sheriff Cahillane was recently the only sheriff in the western Massachusetts counties to support an initiative out of Boston to provide support for incarcerated and prerelease LGBTQI people.
Within the jail there is a nurturing fathers program, designed to strengthen relationships between the men and their children, various drug and alcohol treatment programs and various educational and vocational programs. The culinary program provides the necessary training required to certify the men in “safe serve” which is required to work in any restaurant or catering business.
Please don’t be misled by his opponents saying differently, research or inquire for yourselves about the services presently provided and supported by Sheriff Cahillane at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction.
Sheriff Cahillane supports these programs to ensure public safety, as much as possible, by providing whatever is available to the men to reduce recidivism, and assist them in rebuilding their lives.
