Eric Conklin scored 16 points off the bench as the Amherst College men’s basketball team beat Westfield State, 84-59, on Tuesday at LeFrak Gymnasium.

Conklin made 7 of 8 field goals and added a team-high six rebounds.

Johnny McCarthy scored 14 points and Jeff Racy had 12 on four 3-pointers.

Reid Berman led No. 1 Amherst (4-0) with nine assists.

Amherst generated 21 points off 17 Westfield State turnovers.

New Paltz 64, Springfield 63 — Northampton’s Jake Ross scored 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting in his collegiate home debut.

The Williston Northampton product also added 10 rebounds and four assists.

Women’s basketball

Amherst 69, Emmanuel 40 — Meredith Doswell hit five 3s en route to 19 points and added nine rebounds in a road win.

Hannah Hackley and Madeline Eck joined her in double figures with 14 and 11, respectively. Ali Doswell dished out four assists for No. 2 Amherst (4-0).

Williston Northampton graduate Mary McCarthy scored four points and grabbed five rebounds for Emmanuel (1-3).

Westfield State 101, Eastern Connecticut 94 — Rebecca Sapuckey (Granby High School) had 11 points and seven rebounds as the Owls (4-1) won at home.

Jill Valley (Mahar) scored 35 points, including the 1,000th of her career, for Westfield.
