Henry Doherty scored at the rim on multiple occasions in a 66-52 win for the Northampton High boys basketball team over Chicopee on the road Thursday night.
Doherty’s 20 points led the Blue Devils (8-3, 1-1 Valley Wheel), who won their fourth straight.
Mike McCarthy scored 14 points with seven rebounds for Northampton, while Elijah Davis added 15 points.
The Blue Devils faced a deficit at halftime but outscored the Pacers 23-10 in the third quarter to pull away.
Baystate Academy 62, Gateway 41 — Shane Mastello scored 20 points, but the Gators (2-6, 0-4 Tri County) lost on the road.
Frontier 56, Greenfield 48 — Some fourth quarter scoring by Carsten Carey helped the Red Hawks close out the Green Wave at home.
Carey finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.
Myles Freeman added 12 points for the Red Hawks (4-7, 2-4 Hampshire).
Amherst Regional 73, Westfield 55 — The Hurricanes outscored the Bombers 41-20 in the middle two periods to pull away on the road.
Miekkel Murray had 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Meikyle scored 19 for Amherst (8-3, 2-0 Valley League).
Hopkins Academy 73, Pioneer Regional 54 — After an up and down first half, the Golden Hawks pulled away after intermission.
Jon Morrison led Hopkins (9-1, 7-0 Hampshire) with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Sam’i Roe added 24 points and John Earle had 18 as the Golden Hawks moved within one win of clinching a postseason berth.
Chicopee Comp 59, Belchertown 34 — Nolan Vogel scored 19 points in a home loss for the Orioles (0-10)
Smith Voke 62, St. Mary 43 — Luis Acosta scored a career high 24 points in a home win for the Vikings (2-7, 1-7 Tri County).
Acosta did damage from the outside with four 3-pointers.
Drew Brida added a double-double for Smith Voke with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Palmer 67, Hampshire 37 — Despite 11 points off three 3-pointers from senior Greg Laroche, the Red Raiders fell on the road.
Hampshire scored just eight points in the first half, trailing 38-8 at halftime.
Granby 69, Ware 50 — Zach Gorham exploded for 27 points along with 10 rebounds in the road win for the Rams (7-3).
Noah Bleakley added nine points and eight rebounds.
