HADLEY – A masked man armed with a knife robbed a convenience store at the Phillips 66 gasoline station on Russell Street Monday night, fleeing on foot with about $110 in cash, according to Hadley Police.
Police said the robbery was reported around 10:20 p.m. and that the suspect demanded cash from a store clerk while brandishing a knife.
“There were no injuries and he got away,” Hadley Police Sgt. Mitchell Kuc said Tuesday.
Kuc said police plan to review surveillance footage of the suspect who was described as wearing a mask and gloves. A Montague K-9 unit responded to the scene to assist with a search of the suspect, Kuc said.
The armed robbery was the second in the past five months at the Phillips 66 gas station near the intersection of West Street and Route 9. In September 2016, a masked man with a knife threatened a convenience store clerk after midnight and fled with about $65 in cash, according to police. The suspect was never caught.
The store also was robbed in March 2014 by a masked man carrying what appeared to be a wooden stick or club and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
