As a former school committee member who follows the news of our state and local politics carefully hoping that funding allows our schools to educate our children broadly through public education, I have been disappointed at the headlines and content regarding the challenges of hiring a new superintendent in Easthampton.
It is belittling to stay focused on “ladies” as it has become clear there were many missteps as the decision to hire unraveled. There were clearly many reasons and not just one that led to the Easthampton School Committee’s decisions. It’s so unfortunate that it has landed only in “ladies “ when clearly these volunteers have spent many many hours volunteering for the education of the children of Easthampton and should be thanked for their work and commitment.
