SPRINGFIELD — A Holyoke teenager pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to heroin distribution.
Alexis Santana, 18, has been indicted in U.S. District Court in Springfield on charges of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute heroin, according to a statement released by the Massachusetts U.S. attorney’s office. Santana sold heroin on Oct. 7, 2019 in Holyoke, according to prosecutors.
Santana was one of 17 people indicted on drug charges after law enforcement arrested 42 in the city on drug and firearm offenses during an operation dubbed “Operation Open Air” last October. He could be looking at up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release and a $1 million fine, according to the statement.
Judge Mark G. Mastroianni scheduled Santana’s sentencing for June 30.
