HOLYOKE — A car crash on the bridge to Chicopee claimed the lives of two people Monday afternoon.
Holyoke police and firefighters responded to Cabot Street over the Willimansett Bridge shortly before 1 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle accident. Emergency personnel determined both occupants of the southbound vehicle, a man and a woman, were dead.
Police closed off the immediate area to the public for the duration of the investigation. The Massachusetts State Police Accident Investigation Unit was contacted and responded to the scene.
