For such a politically active coalition, Bernie Sanders’ supporters seem to be acting quite politically naive.

This election is not about romance and “falling in love,” as a letter-writer suggested July 27.

It is actually about a war, declared by the Republican Party, for the soul of America.

It is time to act rationally, not emotionally. The next president of the United States will either be Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. Period. Any forward movement of a progressive agenda goes through a Clinton presidency. She will have the opportunity to help implement a progressive agenda and shape the direction of the Supreme Court for generations.

The attitude that if she does not win over Sanders supporters to their liking, they might then vote for another candidate or not at all, costing her the election, is misguided and dangerous.

If Hillary Clinton loses the election, we all lose. Look at the Republican platform and listen to the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates and appreciate that they are the alternative in this election.

It’s time for head over heart and to vote for Hillary Clinton for president.
