Playing at Ware, the Gateway Regional girls soccer team beat the Indians 1-0 behind a goal by Samantha Belardo on Thursday.

The win extended the Gators’ (11-2-3) unbeaten steak to nine games dating back to Sept 24.

Belardo’s goal came in the second half. Becca Herman made four saves to notch the shutout for the Gators.

Gateway peppered Ware keeper Ashley Grout with 18 shots.

Northampton 3, Chicopee Comp 0 —Emma Tanner led the way for the Blue Devils, scoring once and adding an assist.

Caroline Tanner and Brigitte Goeler-Slough both found the back of the net as well. Alli Zadworny notched an assist.

Sydney White made nine saves for Northampton (6-5-4).

Sabis 4, Hampshire Regional 3 — The Raiders were not able to get the victory against the Bulldogs at home.

Vissi Rizos, Sam Tersavich and Abbey Goodnow all scored. Lexi Turgeon and Megan Hufnagel both picked up an assist.

Melissa Gagnon stopped nine shots for Hampshire Regional (8-4-2).

South Hadley 5, Athol 0 — Marley Medina had two goals and an assist in the Tigers home victory.

Alexa Blaney, Kyra Schoenfeld and Taylor Roy all scored as well. Sarah Fudger dished out two assists. Sophie Gatzounas tallied an assist as well.

Gatzounas was in net for South Hadley (11-4-1), and collected two saves.

Renaissance 3, Smith Vocational 1 — The Phoenix offense was overwhelming for the Vikings, as they lost on the road.

Shannon Ryan scored the lone goal for Smith Vocational (11-3-1).

Lenox 5, Smith Academy 1 — The Falcons could not keep up with Lenox’s offense during an away loss.

Erin Gilrein scored their only goal, which was set up by Lacey Miastkowski.

Gabby Tisdale was in net for Smith Academy (5-8-2), and finished with 11 saves.

Granby 3, Easthampton 0 – Mallory Beauregard, Erin Mikalchus and Julia Frappier all scored for the Rams (12-2-2).

Nora Young contributed with an assist.

Brooklyn Baran had two saves for Granby, while Lili Pioli had three for Easthampton (8-7-1).

Boys soccer

Northampton 2, Chicopee Comp 2 – JD Pruett scored in the opening seconds of the match from 60 yards out, when he realized the goalie was out of position.

Nick Heafey found the back of the net for the Blue Devils as well. Nick Capers added an assist.

Ian Hutchins had eight saves for Northampton (5-7-4).

Field hockey

Smith Academy 1, Mahar 0 — Vanessa Skawski scored for the Falcons in the second half of a home win.

Karlie Guimond added an assist, while Taeghan Cavanaugh made two saves for Smith Academy (6-7-2, 3-3 North).

Agawam 2, Amherst 1 — Holiday Wear scored, but the Hurricanes lost at home.

Lindsey Campbell made 10 saves for Amherst (0-13).

Girls volleyball

Belchertown 3, Putnam 0 – The Orioles swept the Beavers on the road. They won the sets 25-11, 25-23, and 25-10.

Belchertown totaled 16 aces. Audra Hale was responsible for five aces, while Allie Lukac had four.

Cara McKenzie collected eight kills for the Orioles (14-3).

South Hadley 3, Holyoke 0 — Kiana Turner led the Tigers with 17 kills, 21 digs and three aces in a 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 road win.

Kayleigh Jagodowski added six digs, three kills and two aces.

Morgan Adams dished out 19 assists and had three aces and two kills for South Hadley (13-3).
