- To be sold at public auction at Warner’s Coffee House in Northampton on Thursday, the 15th day of the present month, at ten o’clock, A.M., 127 shares in the Northampton Bridge, being the shares owned by the Hon. William Gray of Boston.
- Israel Lyman & Sons would inform the public that they have recently built a horse boat that will cross the Connecticut River at the Ferry between Northampton and Hadley South-street and will be ready at all times to convey passengers. The speed of this boat is not surpassed by any.

- The community market opened this morning with a large number of sellers and buyers present. There was an abundance of fruits and vegetables for sale at attractive prices. One farmer had chickens and jelly also, so that it was possible to buy a complete dinner with all the “fixin’s” at this morning’s market.
- John Coolidge, son of the President, will resume his studies at Amherst College this month, with the intention of remaining in that institution until he is graduated. It was denied flatly at White Court today that John has any intention of going to West Point or to the naval academy at Annapolis.

- Harry S. Chapman Jr., grocery store owner, city councilor, and mayoral candidate, has taken to wearing “policeman’s shoes” these days. Out campaigning yesterday, Chapman, who introduces himself to voters and everyone else as “Buzz” Chapman, explained that he has already walked his way through one pair of shoes in his quest for the mayor’s office. For the remainder of the campaign, he is wearing the type of thick rubber-soled shoes that policemen on the beat wear.
- McCallum’s building owner Floyd Andrus last night asked the City Council to take a private parking lot behind the McCallum’s store by eminent domain and use it for a public parking lot. Andrus said that additional parking spaces are crucial to his efforts to find tenants for the McCallum building, which has been empty since the department store closed in early 1974.
