As a senior citizen who lives downtown, I was encouraged by Benjamin Spencer’s comments about the possibility of new senior housing downtown.
Downsizing over 10 years ago and moving to State Street was a wonderful decision and I was glad a new young family moved into our larger Leeds house. If my disability makes it necessary for us to move out of our current home, I would hope to be able to remain downtown. The neighbors I have met here who are so helpful would still be my neighbors.
I know Benjamin has worked on the issues of housing affordability, safe streets, and Main Street redesign. His regular attendances at City Council, Transportation and Parking and Planning Board meetings gives him an understanding of the city’s issues and policies. His promise of supporting sidewalk and street improvements throughout the city I welcome as a daily pedestrian.
I’m encouraged by Benjamin’s love of the city and his vision for the future for all citizens. I also respect his voice of reason and know he would be a great addition to the Northampton City Council.
