LEONARD KARPINSKI

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Leonard S. Karpinski, 96, of Washington, DC died Monday, September 29th, 2025 at Ingleside Rock Creek Nursing facility after a brief illness.

He was born and raised in Hatfield, MA, the sixth of seven children and the second of three sons. He was the last surviving sibling having been pre-deceased by his sisters Mary Krisco, Mable Raffa, Regina Auer, Edna Pysz, and his brothers Albin Karpinski, and Richard Karpinski. He leaves behind seventeen nieces and nephews and their families.

A veteran of the Korean war, he served his country in the Army stationed in Germany for two years. The G.I. Bill allowed him to study at a community college and apply his accounting skills in a career at the Interior Dept. of the Federal Government.

Leonard never married and had no children which allowed him to travel extensively and cultivate many friends in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C. He was a much loved resident of the Bristol House apartments, residing there sixty-three years.

A visitation and wake will be held Monday October 6th from 3-5PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th at 10:00 AM, both at Czelusniak funeral home Northampton, MA.
