I am writing to express my deep appreciation and support for my neighbor, Benjamin Spencer, whose commitment and energy have been an inspiration to many of us in the community.
Benjamin and myself worked side by side on a grassroots campaign to address a development proposal that would have brought a large dog kennel to our neighborhood. Recognizing the long-term impact such a project could have on the character and quality of life in our area, we knocked on doors, engaged our neighbors in conversation, and raised awareness on social media.
Together, and with the support of many residents, we presented our concerns and alternative vision to the Mayor’s Office. Rather than a kennel, we advocated for affordable housing that would strengthen our community, and reflect the values of inclusion and shared growth.
Ben’s tireless efforts — whether canvassing in the rain, organizing community discussions, or thoughtfully presenting our position to city officials — made a tremendous difference. His leadership and integrity are exactly what make neighborhoods like ours strong and vibrant.
