I am writing to endorse Robbie Saner Sullivan for School Committee at-Large in the Nov. 4 election. As a former member of the School Committee, I recognize that Robbie is a strong candidate who will bring a clear, curious mind to the committee and will lead with compassion and sensitivity.

Challenging issues, such as perennial funding shortages, the ever-changing role of technology in schools, and how better to assess student performance in the absence of state-mandated standardized testing, as well as the critical task of hiring and supporting a superintendent, requires measured thinking and open-mindedness. Robbie has these qualities and more.

She is the parent of three graduates of Northampton schools, and is herself a graduate of Northampton High School. She is well aware of what our children need to succeed, and she
understands that there are no easy one-time fixes to complex issues. Robbie will provide a strong, independent voice on the committee. I cannot imagine a better choice for Northampton families and children.
