I have never met Irv Rhodes. If we passed each other on the streets, I doubt I’d recognize him. All I know of Mr. Rhodes is from what I read in the Gazette. And every quote by him makes me appreciate his work on the School Committee. Every single quote from Mr. Rhodes reflects a commitment to the well-being of Amherst young people. I recall an article this summer about sports fees at the high school, and Mr. Rhodes spoke of how important sports are to a young person’s experience. Recently, in the article about the troubled classroom at Fort River, Mr. Rhodes spoke about how his heart was broken for the children. Consistently, Mr. Rhodes has shown he always looks at every issue from the perspective of what is best for the students. As the father of a 3-year-old attending Early Education at Crocker Farm, thank you, Irv Rhodes, for always looking out for our children.
