Waynesville, NC – Joyce M. Kievitt, age 91, formally of Haydenville, MA, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after an extended illness. She was born on August 5, 1934, in Massachusetts to the late Clarence and Gladys Ducharme Baldwin. Joyce was a resident of Silver Bluff Village in Canton, NC, where she received excellent care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart W. Kievitt, and her children, Diane and Thomas Kennedy.
She is survived by her sons Patrick and Michael Kennedy, and a daughter of the heart, Kimberly Kievitt-Demers (John) of Chicopee, MA; five grandchildren: Lauren, Matthew, Collin, Lance, and Lana; a brother, Charles “Corky” Baldwin (Donna) of Williamsburg, MA; and a niece, Valerie Bush (Stephen) of Waynesville, NC.
Despite her battle with Alzheimer’s, Joyce never forgot her prayers for faith, hope, and assurance. Her favorite pastime was playing Bingo at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joyce’s memory be made to the Activity/Bingo Fund at Silver Bluff, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC, so that prizes can be awarded and the game enjoyed by all.
