Excellent guest column by Dan Lombardo about Mussolini [“Lessons from the rise and fall of Mussolini,” Gazette, Dec. 12]. He gives a lot of history in a few well-chosen words. The parallel to Trump is right on target. He had a gift of showmanship and big talk. He rose to power by exploiting grievances and promising prosperity and restored national greatness. But he lacked the ability to deliver either one.
