WILLIAMSBURG/FLORENCE — Trees took down power lines in Williamsburg and Florence Friday morning, resulting in a combined 200 customers without power for a few hours.

In Williamsburg, a tree came down on a Hemenway Road power line that left 130 residents without power for more than two hours. Emergency services were called to Hemenway Road at 10:46 a.m. and the road remained closed until 1:30 p.m, said Police Chief Denise Wickland, adding that wind was to blame for the downed tree.

Around the same time in Florence, National Grid spokesman Bob Kievra said a tree fell and took out a utility pole and wires at 10:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Brookwood Drive. Restoration for 83 customers was expected to be complete around 4 p.m., he said.
