A 13-point overtime period pushed the Hopkins boys basketball team past Granby, 58-47, in non-league action on Thursday.

The Golden Hawks forced extra time after falling behind, 32-28, at the end of three quarters of play, before rolling to their seventh win of the season.

Chace Earle scored 17 points to pace Hopkins, while Derek Gromacki and Harry West each totaled 13 points.

The Hawks also held the advantage in 3-pointers, finishing with eight to the Rams’ three.

Brodie Funk and Zavien Fernandez were Granby’s offensive sparks, combining for 25 points in the loss.

The Rams are still searching for win No. 2 on the season.

East Longmeadow 80, Hampshire 44 — The Raiders were no match for the Spartans in the lopsided loss.

Vynce Carr scored 19 points for Hampshire.

Girls basketball

Holyoke 47, Chicopee Comp 20 — The Purple Knights scored early and often en route to the victory.

Holyoke netted 33 points in the first half alone, led by the strong play of Julianna Pirela. The Purple Knights’ top scorer recorded 14 of her 15 total points in the opening 16 minutes.

Genesis Rivera also reached double figures for Holyoke, concluding with 10 points.

Amherst 46, Palmer 41 — Thursday’s win makes it three of four decisions in favor of the Hurricanes.

Iman Skouta (12 points) and Ruth Robison (11 points) led the Amherst offense in the home win.

Smith Voc 60, Turners Falls 28 — The Vikings poured in 25 points during the third quarter against the Thunder to ease to victory.

Isabella Letourneau led with 13 points, followed closely behind by Sofia Zina’s 12. Ten different Smith Voc players registered points in the win.

Ware 43, Smith Academy 41 — The Falcons fell for the fourth game in a row in the two-point loss to the Indians.

Anna Scagel (16 points) and Vivian Higuera (11 points) were Smith Academy’s high scorers.

PVIAC Skiing

The fifth PVIAC alpine ski race of the season took place on Thursday at Berkshire East Mountain Resort and several area skiers earned top-10 finishes.

Amherst’s Amelia Morse took second in the girls race, finishing up in 33.24 seconds. Hazel Scully-Henry of Hampshire was next with a sixth-place finish in 34.96, then Maya Phillips of Amherst grabbed eighth in 35.00.

In the boys race, James Janssen of PVCICS was the first local finisher with a ninth-place finish in 50.12. Northampton’s Jonah Abel-Waisman snatched 10th place in 50.84.
