The Belchertown boys basketball team rolled past Hampshire, 73-54, in a non-league matchup at Zalot Gymnasium in Westhampton on Friday.

The Orioles were in control from the start, building a 42-16 advantage by the halftime break, then extended it with 31 more points in quarters three and four to claim their eighth win (8-8) of the season.

Brice Letendre poured in 27 points to pace Belchertown, while Jake Pacunas played well, finishing with 15 points.

The Raiders, who suffered their first loss in four games on Friday, got strong games from Vynce Carr (19 points) and Braylon Jarrett (11 points).

Hampshire fell to 9-8 overall.

Smith Voc 68, Turners Falls 67 — Josh Cole was the difference for the Vikings in the one-point win.

Cole hit a couple of free throws late in the game to put Smith Voc on top in what wound up being a back-and-forth battle. Cole collected 22 points (career high), 11 rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Greenfield 90, Smith Academy 42 — Two Falcons reached double figures in Harry LaFlamme (12 points) and Grant Murray (10 points) in the loss.

Ware 52, Granby 37 — Zavien Fernandez’s 18 points weren’t enough to push the Rams past the Indians.

Girls basketball

Holyoke 60, Amherst 29 — The Purple Knights had an offensive outburst in the victory against the Hurricanes.

Julianna Pirela (15 points) and Kyra Lippman (10 points) were largely responsible for Holyoke’s highest-scoring contest of the season.

Ruth Robison scored nine points to lead Amherst.

Frontier 72, Easthampton 46 — The Redhawks blew past the Eagles in a non-league tilt.

Frontier went ahead 47-18 at halftime and continued its scoring pace in the third to secure the win.

Addie Harrington deposited 22 points for the Redhawks, followed by Skylar Steele’s 19 points and 17 points from Harper Modestow.

Easthampton’s top scoring duo of Samone Young and Nola Roos combined for 33 points.

South Hadley 64, Westfield 32 — Eight different scorers carried the Tigers to their third straight win.

Taylor Bullough’s 11 points led the way for South Hadley, but Kate Phillips and Olivia Athas each drained 10 points.

Girls basketball

Hampshire 43, Belchertown 28 — The Raiders pulled away in the second half to down the Orioles. Hampshire outscored Belchertown 30-19 in the final 16 minutes of action.

Aubrey Parent posted 17 points as the Raiders’ top scorers, Addie Miklasiewicz was right behind with 12.

The O’s got a team-high 10 points from Gabby Slovack.
