Northampton is a wonderful place to live. We have the benefits of a pretty vibrant town, surrounded by easy access to woods and nature. It disappoints me though, when I hike the Mill River and dog park behind the community gardens on Burts Pit Road, there is dog poop all over. Dog feces can carry diseases, take up to a year to compost and are so acidic, it can kill plants. Besides those serious concerns, itโ€™s ugly and shouldnโ€™t be left lying along and on the paths. Why do we think in winter you can just leave it as the snow might cover it or who cares anyway. We should all protect our environment and respect our surroundings and scoop the poop. It may be a small ask in our frightening world but we can control this, so do it!
