The Summer Ultimate League of Amherst (SULA) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, bringing the community together with a few special events.
Over the summer, the group will be holding a t-shirt design competition and will have discs made up as well for players to enjoy.
SULA is split up into three different divisions, women’s, co-ed and kids, with the two adult groups running for eight weeks, and the kids for seven.
Women’s Night will start on Wednesday, June 17, co-ed night will start on Thursday, June 18 and the Kids division will start a week later on Tuesday, June 23.
Players across a wide variety of ages are welcome, with the coaches of the kids division being local high school players, many of whom got their start with SULA.
Pope Francis boys hockey wins D1 State Championship
The Pope Francis boys hockey team won the MIAA Division 1 State Championship on Sunday, defeating Saint John’s 2-1 in overtime at TD Garden in Boston.
Luke Latulippe scored the game-winner for the Cardinals in the overtime period, breaking a 1-1 tie stemming from the second period.
Wolfgang Zinger scored the first goal of the night for Pope Francis, and George Ramsey made 24 saves on 25 shots against in net.
The Cardinals finished the game outshooting their opponent 40-25, putting a cap on a great season that ended with a 19-5-3 record overall and a new trophy to add to the collection.
Easthampton native Tanner Kmetz was part of the title-winning Cardinals squad.
