Granby’s Kaitlyn Curran joined the 100-hit club after going 1-for-1 in its 9-7 win over Ware in softball action on Thursday afternoon.
Curran needed just one base knock to reach the milestone heading into the contest with the Indians and got it during the fourth inning, lacing a single to left field that scored a run. Curran walked twice and was hit by a pitch in the senior’s other appearances at the plate.
Elsewhere in the order, Sydney Chateauneuf was money for Granby, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
Thursday’s Suburban East battle was tied, 6-6, after two innings, but three more runs in the fourth from the Rams proved to be the difference.
Granby pitcher Meredith Bartosz gave up nine hits, seven runs while fanning three and walking one in seven innings.
Boys Lacrosse
Agawam 16, South Hadley 3 โ The Tigers struggled to find consistent offense in a tough loss to the Brownies on Thursday night.
Hunter Skibel was the lone player for South Hadley to find the back of the net in the loss, scoring all three of the teamโs goals.
Pope Francis 9, Amherst 7 โ Sawyer Ferro and Tri Nguyenโs hat tricks werenโt enough for the Hurricanes to pull out a competitive battle with the Cardinals.
Finn Pycroft scored the only other goal for Amherst, with Jason Kim making 21 saves between the pipes in the loss.
Baseball
Belchertown 5, Agawam 1 โ Canyon Charronโs six-inning start, allowing just one earned run, led the Orioles to a solid victory at home.
Nathan Marino was busy offensively in the win, going 2-4 at the plate with a double, coming around to score three runs on the basepaths.
Girls Lacrosse
Granby 17, Chicopee Comp 15 โ Brenna Morenoโs six-goal performance helped lead the Rams to a comeback victory after facing a two-goal deficit at halftime.
Ava-Elizabeth Loughman and Mylin Laliberte each found the back of the net four times each in the win, with Laliberte adding two assists.
Northampton 16, Westfield 5 — Seven goals in the first quarter helped the Blue Devils blast the Bombers.
Makayla Fydenkevez achieved 200 career points, racking up six goals and five assists versus Westfield.
Imanni Power-Greene and Margaret Little also totaled multi-goal games.
Boys tennis
PVCICS 3, Northampton 2 — The Dragons swept in singles to win their first contest against the Spartans in their very first meeting.
Lee Ferguson (6-1, 6-0), Derek Ye (6-0, 6-0) and Devan Ye (7-6 (7-5), 6-4) were PVCICS’ point-getters in the competitive match.

Minnechaug 91, Amherst 53 โ The Hurricanes lost their first meet since 2024 against a strong Falcons group on Wednesday night.
Ella Austin won the 800-meter (2:25.1), while also contributing to a win in the 4×400 relay alongside Ella Jamate, Nina Holden, Ololara Baptiste (4:22.5).
