For the second straight season, the Amherst Gx (girls division) ultimate team are Amherst Invitational champions.
The Hurricanes edged Northampton, 8-7, in the Gx Division 1 final on a sudden-death victory point to repeat as champions. Amherst beat Four Rivers, 9-8, in 2025.
Against the Blue Devils, Annika Reddington snagged the deciding point for Amherst on an assist from Willa Hudson. Reddington and Hudson were sharp, combining for six points in the victory.
Aria Haupt (goal, two assists) also stepped up for Amherst.
The Hurricanes went 5-0 to clinch a spot in the Gx championship, taking down Northampton junior varsity, Northfield Mount Hermon (twice), Winchester, and Vermont’s Champlain Valley by a combined total of 71 -13.
Sunday’s finale wrapped up the 33rd installment of the acclaimed tournament, which is the longest-running annual ultimate tournament in the country.
These two teams will square off once again this week, this time at Northampton High School, on Friday, May 8 at 6 p.m.
