The Hampshire softball team’s offense was on full display in its huge Western Mass. tournament Class B quarterfinal win against Pittsfield on Tuesday.
The Raiders dismantled the Generals in five innings, 20-2, while smashing 15 hits as a team throughout the bout.
Brooke Labrie and Chelsea Vanasse each went 3-for-3 at the plate for Hampshire, while Rachael Hickox and Lucy Trombley each brought in four runs for the hosts.
In the circle, Ryanne Dubay went the distance, allowing just three hits, two runs, three walks, while striking out seven.
The top-seeded Raiders came into the contest in a lull as they suffered its first shutout of the season after falling to Joseph Case, 7-0, last Saturday.
Tuesday’s convincing result should give the Raiders confidence heading into the semifinal round where they’ll face fifth-seeded Chicopee.
Class D
Granby 12, Pioneer Valley 5 — The Rams pulled away late in its quarterfinal-round win against the Panthers on Tuesday.
Ahead 4-3 after three innings of play, Granby scored eight of the game’s final 10 runs to advance in the bracket.
Kaitlyn Curran (3-for-5) had the most hits for the Rams, while Kiki Gaj finished with three RBIs to lead the victors.
Meredith Bartosz pitched a clean game for Granby, surrendering four hits, five runs, two walks while fanning four.
The third-seeded Rams will travel to second-seeded Monson in the semifinal round.
Class A
Minnechaug 5, Northampton 0 — The Blue Devils were held off the scoreboard in the loss to the Falcons in the quarterfinal round.
Northampton will look to right the ship ahead of the MIAA Division 2 state tournament.
Boys volleyball
Class B
Belchertown 3, Sci-Tech 1 — The Orioles flew back from a dropped first set to advance to the Class B final.
Belchertown received impressive performances from Gavin Couchon (25 kills) and Arda Cayan (39 assists) during the victory.
Set scores were 15-25, 25-17, 25-19, 29-27.
The third-seeded Orioles will take on top-seeded Longmeadow in the championship on Friday at Chicopee Comp.
Class C
Granby 3, SICS 2 — The Rams took Tuesday’s back-and-forth semifinal round match, sealing the victory in a close fifth set.
Set scores read 20-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-21, 19-17.
Jake Gagnon (12 kills, 17 assists), Nathan Walsh (10 kills, 22 assists) and Daniel Santiago all went off for Granby, which will face second-seeded Veritas Prep in the Class C final on Thursday at Chicopee Comp.

Longmeadow 5, Amherst 0 — The Lancers once again got the best of the Hurricanes, this time with the Class A crown on the line.
Amherst’s Mahima Ganesan and Janaki Ewoton & Micayla Shefftz pushed their respective matches to three sets.

Smith Voc 5, Monson 4 — The Vikings won Tuesday’s affair, which was called after the third quarter due to lightning.
Erin Miller played well for Smith Voc, tallying all five goals, including her 100th of her career.
Baseball
Monson 6, Easthampton 4 — Three fielding errors were the difference in this one as the Eagles fell for the second game in a row.
Patrick Larson was money from the bump though, striking out 11 Mustang batters in a complete game effort.

Holyoke 3, Turners Falls 2 — The Purple Knights snapped their three-match losing streak in the win over the Thunder.
Nora Proulx won in second singles, while Grace O’Shea-Griffis &ย Scarlett Mendes and Madison Bruso & Abigail Ngure claimed both doubles matches for Holyoke.
