Watching last week’s Senate debate reinforced why Ed Markey is the best candidate for Massachusetts. My favorite quote from Markey was, “Experience is not the opposite of change. Experience is what you use in order to create change.”

Moulton’s attempt to render Markey obsolete on account of his age falls flat when you consider that Markey was the most prepared, the most specific, the most energetic person on the stage, and has a track record of getting things done. Speaking of fitness, did you see him during the Boston Pride March? He literally jogged from down and across the street over to the camera.

Besides showing up for the march (did anyone see Moulton there? I didn’t), Markey has made some of the most compassionate comments about protecting our trans sisters and brothers. Do I need to rehash Moulton’s comments? (“I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete.”) The problem is larger than trans — the problem is Moulton’s cowardice that can bleed into denouncing other vulnerable populations.

Markey supports Medicare for all, housing as a right, LGBTQI+ rights, and care for the environment, among so many progressive issues. I hope you will join me in supporting Ed Markey in the Sept. 1 primary.
