Roland A. Laurin Jr.

Hatfield, MA – Roland A. Laurin Jr., 83, of Hatfield, passed away on Thursday July 23, 2026. He was born in Springfield on October 5, 1942, to the late Roland and Gertrude (Pratt) Laurin Sr. Roland was educated in Amherst Schools and was a graduate of Amherst Regional High School class of 1960.

After high school, Roland enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1964 to 1968. A proud veteran, he spent his service aboard a submarine. After returning home, he held various jobs, including 32 years as a custodian for the Town of Amherst school department.

He enjoyed watching trains, following all UMass sports, and traveling with his longtime companion and dear friend, Linda Nolet, who sadly passed away in 2024. Roland also cherished time spent with friends he made through the Hatfield Council on Aging.

He is survived his sister Theresa Merrero of Holyoke, several nieces and nephews, and his caregivers, Richard and Christine Jones of Chicopee.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Charles Laurin.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 5-7 PM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON. Burial will be private with Military Honors at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery, Agawam.
