I’d like to think that most people would agree that human rights should not be up for debate. Yet recently, gratuitous, slagging opinion pieces published in the Gazette say otherwise. These grandstanders offer no expert opinion or empirical insight, instead ruminating on the same few talking points that transphobes have espoused for half of the last century.
Really, it leaves me to wonder: Why does the Gazette think these arguments belong in our local paper at all? Has it occurred to anyone that by calling trans rights into question, you’re calling human rights into question?
How unbearably dehumanizing it is be a queer Gazette reader.
