The Holyoke Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame announced its Induction Class of 2026 on Tuesday.
Athletes inducted include Don Genereux (Holyoke Trade ’74), Jack Gilligan (HHS ’80), Nick Grass (HHS ’01), Brigid McKenna (HHS ’01), Tom Sleboda (HHS ’80), and Debbie Sweeney DeVito (HHS ’86), along with Coach Bill Lawson (HHS swimming), legends Alan Hurlburt (HHS ’58) and Ned O’Meara (HHS ’68), and the 1985 HHS boys’ tennis and the 1990 HHS football teams.
Former longtime HHS band leader Tom Tisdell will also be inducted as a contributor.
This year’s enshrinement ceremony will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Wyckoff Country Club in Holyoke.
Induction weekend festivities include the annual Induction Celebration Dinner on Sunday, as well as being introduced during halftime of Holyoke’s football game that preceding Friday, plus the annual Hall of Fame banquet on the preceding Saturday.

Results for the Senior Net Club Championship at Northampton Country Club this past weekend:
Men’s division 1: tied first, Peter Daniello and Rich Simmons, 72; Men’s division 2: first, Chuck O’Connell 64; second, Steve Lentner 66; Men’s division 3: first, Jerry Hickle 70; Mike Quinlan 73.
Women’s division 1: first, Linda Haskell 66; Women’s division 2: first, Liz Craig 67; second, Linda Petrozzi 70; Women’s division 3: tied first, Mary Brunelle and Donna Shepherd 67.
High School Cross Country
The 30th Amherst Cross Country Invitational is set for Sept. 19, with this year’s race being held at UMass. The first race starts at 10 a.m.
Field entries will be capped at 25 teams, and a varsity squad can only run seven runners. There is no limit to the amount of runners per team in the junior varsity or freshmen races.
Trophies will be awarded to the top 25 finishers in each race with plaques going to the top two teams.
The Crowley Cup will be awarded to the school with the lowest combined score between its boys and girls varsity teams.
