One thing we can all agree on is that we as individuals are at loggerheads more than at any other time in our history regarding politics. It used to be (back in the “good ole days”) that there was such a thing as disagreement, opinion, dialogue — all could be shared without fear of verbal abuse, hostile response and an ire that could light a state on fire with its burning intensity.
I do not expect us to all come to the same conclusion on issues, candidates or our state of the world. I’m a proud Dem and have plenty of opinions. And, I respect yours, even if I don’t agree with them. We formed our nation based on the principles of free speech and independence. Let’s remember that, honor that and most importantly, practice that.
If we all do anything of meaning this fall, it’s that we must VOTE. Your vote is your voice. Your vote is your power. Your vote is your independence. Encourage everyone you know to vote. Give someone a ride to the polls. Be respectful of your neighbors and friends and their position. Let’s try really truly hard to become humans again. Let’s set a different example and practice our power in ways that are meaningful and will make a difference.
