PELHAM — An $80,000 appropriation to help Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity complete ongoing construction of two single-family homes is one of three articles residents will decide at a special Town Meeting Tuesday.
The session begins at 5 p.m. at the Old Town Hall at the intersection of Route 202 and Amherst Road. The building, which opened in 1743, remains the longest continuously used meetinghouse in the United States, though annual Town Meetings are typically held at Pelham Elementary School.
The major spending item seeks money from the Community Presrevation Act account to help the regional organizatioon with building the energy-efficient homes on the lot on Cadwell Street. That lot was conveyed to Habitat at annual Town Meeting in May and construction got underway this summer.
One is a two-story, three-bedroom home, and the other a one-story, two-bedroom home, which would be adaptable for someone with mobility impairments.
These homes would be the second development Habitat has completed in Pelham, after two homes were built on Amherst Road in 2022.
The remaining articles are to pay previous bills, one for $163.67 to W.B. Mason Co. Inc., which will draw from the Select Board expense account, and the other for $308.33 to Delta Sand and Gravel, which will draw from the Highway Department’s expense account.
