Kevin Lake died earlier this month (Gazette obituary Oct. 10), and I sorely miss him. Kevin quietly helped bind us one to another through his wide circle of friends during his many years as head of the Northampton Conservation Commission. In our lunch last year, he told me how he was approaching his imminent death by doing what he had always done — quietly ensuring that we conserve the lands that sustain us. Please join Kevin and his friends in strengthening our bonds of love for this place. Kevin’s spirit will prove a mitzvah to heal the broken trust in our power to pass on a better world to the next seven generations.
