Blue Flag Irises

North Pleasant Street, Amherst

Photograph and text by Georgette deFriesse, Belchertown

There are times you know that a particular landscape would make a lovely photo, but each time you visit the view, something’s not quite right. For this scene, the glare on the water was sometimes too bright, or there was unattractive detritus floating on the surface of the water. But finally on this day in early June, when the blue flag irises were at their height, all the details came together.

Created with a DSLR, a medium zoom, and my knee in lieu of a tripod.
