NORTHAMPTON — Firefighters responded to two vehicle fires in the city this week: a car that caught fire in the drive-through of the Dunkin’ on Damon Road on Monday, and a pickup truck loaded with hay that caught fire off Hockanum Road in the Meadows on Wednesday.

On Monday, as Northampton Fire Rescue crews were making their shift change, they were dispatched to the vehicle fire at the Dunkin’ Donuts. According to the department’s Facebook page, Engine 2 quickly brought the fire under control and prevented flames from spreading to the building.

One individual was evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation but declined transport to the hospital.

On Wednesday, firefighters also from Engine 2 responded Hockanum Road to put out the fire in the bed of a pickup truck carrying hay. Crews made quick work of the flames, and then spent considerable time putting out various hot spots, the Facebook post states.

No injuries were reported, the Facebook said.
