An enthusiastic crowd of dog lovers and their owners and admirers welcomed the 16th annual Volunteers in Northampton Schools Dog Show back on March 2 after a hiatus during the pandemic.
The board of directors of VINS appreciates all who attended as well as the over 80ย local businesses and 40ย volunteers who made the show possible.
Proceeds from the show fund the VINS program. Coordinator Candy Tauscher, recruits, trains, and places about 80 volunteers each year in district public schools. These volunteers help bring the helping hands and hearts of the community into schools to support school staff and enhance student learning.
Contact vinsvolunteer@gmail.com for information about becoming a VINS volunteer.
The VINS Dog Show is designed for families and friends to enjoy a free fun afternoon. The dogs performed admirably in categories including โBest Dressed,โ โClever Canine Tricks,โ and โBest Smile.โ Ribbons were awarded to youth and adult dog owners.
The Parade of the Dogsย led by Northampton Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra kicked off the show. Rising to the challenge of judging this โNot Your Typical Dog Showโ were Northampton School Superintendent Portia Bonner, JFK Principal Lauren Marien and School Committee Vice Chair Gwen Agna. They made sure every dog and owner felt like a star. Master of ceremonies Max Hartley kept everyone engaged and laughing. We hope to see you at next yearโs show on the first Saturday in March 2025!
