HADLEY — If all goes according to schedule, a longtime dental practice on Route 9 near Hadley center will be in a new building, less than a mile to the east, by February.
The Valley Dentists, a practice that has existed for 30 years and been run for the past five years by Dr. Ambreen Bawa and Dr. Sumeet Saxena, will be leaving the 138 Russell St. it rents and shares with a salon, and moving to a larger building, dedicated to the practice, at 200 Russell St.
“We need more laboratories and more room to grow,” Bawa said.
The 4,500-square-foot building will have 10 laboratories, an increase from the seven in the 3,200-square-foot space Valley Dentists currently occupies.
“One or two more rooms will make a huge difference,” Saxena said. “Having the extra rooms means we will be able to see more patients.”
This includes being able to have specialists on site, as well, including periodontists and endodontists, and enhancements to the technology used.
“Our main goal is to change out the chairs and get other new things,’ Bawa said.
The practice, with 15 staff members, serves 3,500 patients “from 1 to 100,” Saxena said. Bawa and Saxena took over the practice when Dr. Peter Cinner and Dr. Ronald Matuson retired.
The new location will be at the former Stan’s Drive-in, which was recently demolished. McCarty Associates Inc. of Leominster is handling the construction.
Saxena said plans are in place to remind visitors of the site’s long history as Stan’s Drive-in, with the sign attached to the front of the building to be displayed inside and a table that is being fashioned from the demolished building’s timbers.
